Moving into the stratosphere of experience
My Master asked me to explain following verse colored in red
A stage comes in spirituality when a person gets elevated to such a level that can be described as zero gravity in the space. This is a place where person neither goes down nor upwards. A person having reached this stage may think in two different ways (a) The whole world is under my command ! (b) This is simply infinite. I am such a tiny dot!
Expansion is the nature of soul. Our senses have an in-built tendency to slow down this expansion. The moment we erase individual contribution of senses, we find ourselves surrounded by infinite knowledge. The question is: How does a person feel after reaching the heights of spirituality?
Sometimes I wonder if people scaling Mount Everest end up in deep contemplation with a tinge of sadness. First they can't go any higher ! They must spend their lifetime scaling lower peaks. Second, at the top of the world they found nothing ! Third, they may be thinking .. why all this struggle for ? If all these three assumptions are true, then why do they feel immensely satisfied with a deep sense of pride. Does appreciation of nothingness indicate a state of enlightenment ? Is our life struggle also going to end up this way ?
In the field of spirituality, a person who has advanced far-far enough, may entertain two types of thoughts: (a) I am controlling the whole world. I am the Master. I am the creator (b) Infinite universe exists out there. All I can do, is to quietly observe the creation and enjoy earthly stay for a while.
The first type of person thinks of himself as the Master, a supreme being who creates and controls. The second type of person thinks of himself as a part of the bigger whole. s/he sees himself as a drop in the ocean and that a drop in an ocean is ocean too... S/he sees temporariness of world below and infinite vastness of the universe above. Knowledge leads to humbleness. s/he has no friends or enemies. Everyone is a part of Sat-Chit-Anand. The question is: what are the spin-offs of such a behavior ?
From a "doer" s/he turns into an "observer", s/he loses a sense of accomplishment and gains a sense of fulfillment. S/he witnesses birth, life and death of thoughts and realizes that for Final immersion in an ocean of bliss, even a mere stray thought can create hurdle.
Now the second question is: Why does the same experience result in two opposite outcomes ? Why this dichotomy of human mind? In my opinion, the answer is probably somewhere in the chassis of a human character versus past karmas. Each person is unique in terms of background karma and foreground upbringing. Even genetic twins raised in two different environments behave differently. It is a common experience that cow milk provides nectar to some, while in some it leads to discomfort due to lactose intolerance.
Is this dichotomy manifestation of maya? Are both non-realization and self realization two versions of Maya - one iterative and the other non-iterative. What is Maya and also, is Maya real or unreal? If we go with the first one... then we infer that since the origin of everything is in God, Maya must be real. How can unreal arise from real? How can false arise from Truth? If we go with second possibility, then Maya is an illusion. It is unreal and perishable -- whether it is humans, animals or stars. Everything is an illusion.
In my opinion, both are right. The abstraction of real and unreal was ‘invented’ to motivate people towards spirituality. In its original definition, Maya simply referred to the play of God that was incomprehensible. Whether Maya is perceived as real or unreal, universe seems to built using an object oriented language. All objects have their role, stay around for a while and die, only to emerge again in some form. Whether we call them 'reality or illusion' doesn't matter. These are all abstractions anyway.
Laws only describe relations. They do not explain them. We did not create the laws, we are bound by laws. All accomplishment end up in nothingness. From zygote to death, we accumulate planet resources and call this our own body. Once we die, planet takes back all the periodic table elements atom-by-atom. Therefore, one cannot have ego (read arrogance) for accumulating a body that belongs to the planet. One cannot have ego (read arrogance) for earthly accomplishments that only give us knowledge ... not enlightenment. For enlightenment, memory must be subtracted from knowledge for awareness to express herself. In my opinion, we do not need to travel towards God. A point has no dimensions. In other words, maybe enlightenment is not an effort... it is merely a state of awareness.
